What's at the CTC?
Community Technology Centres (CTCs) are ‘not for profit’ groups that provide rural NSW communities with access to internet connected computers and a range of current software. Their role is to work with and support other businesses and community organisations in order to promote a stronger local economy and a more highly skilled community.
Here at Nimbin CTC we have 11 internet connected computers, with word processing, spreadsheet, database, CD and DVD burning, video editing, printing, and fax facilities, an A3 colour inkjet printer, a colour laser printer and two scanners. We also have a videoconferencing facility available for hire.
More services will be available soon, including desktop publishing and additional video editing software, digital cameras, and computer-based courses, and we will also extend our opening hours.
Like to help?
The CTC depends on community participation. We are currently seeking people to be members of the managing committee (they determine how the CTC runs) and volunteers (who operate the CTC). You don’t need to be a computer expert to become involved - we need volunteers to provide cleaning, maintenance and reception services as well, and computer novices can improve their skills through ‘on-the-job’ training. Please contact the CTC to find out more about what’s involved. We welcome feedback about the CTC, so let us know what you think!
